Proposal

30 minute show proposal

What do we need to know about?
We will need to know about the layout of our set, the time ranges of each presentation so we can edit them accordingly. The props we will need for the presenter to keep it interesting. The programme information/schedule. Programmes that will be on the same time or before and just after. These will help us predict out viewings.
Name: Hot Topic
Schedule:
9PM – 10PM it will be aired on BBC3 and will be on a Thursday  (Because of the Watershed.) I have chosen this time because most people are settling down to watch TV for the night and this is a Hot spot of TV action so we will get a larger audience viewing the show. Also it is quite late so that it focuses on the intended audience more.
Channel:
BBC3 because they have a more laid back attitude to new shows and have a greta intended audience.
Slogan:
How much do you really know?
Layout of set:
The set will be neutral colours so that they appeal to each gender. They have to be easy to the eye and compliment the set as a whole.   I have chosen shades of blue because they are a easy colour to blend.
Mode of address:
The language will be quite informal because the show has a much laid back feel and the presenters will joke with each other to make the viewer feel more comfortable.
Why would they watch it?
They would watch it because it is very informative. It is incredibly varied so it will appeal to a larger variety of people. There are no commercial brakes on BBC because it is funded by us so more people will watch it knowing there won’t be any sudden stops.

Running order of clips:
Oops she did it again
Piracy
How has comedy changed?
Rise of FC united
Fashion
Audience:
The intended audience for our show will be 16-34 years of age because they will understand the concepts that we will be featuring in the show. Either male or female because we have VT’s that will be interesting for both genres so couples could watch it together. This is the Niche audience for BBC3 usually and they will appreciate this type of show more than other audiences.
Presenters:
I would like Matt Edmondson as my presenter because he is a well known face of TV. He is a hilarious chap and can relate to the target audience because of his age and the shows that he has already presented. He is also fashionable so people can look up to his and respect him. Also he can be serious when he wants to be and this is a good quality because we have a serious story in out show.
I would also like Fearne Cotton as another presenter because she is a icon of the TV world. She is one of the most well known faces of the TV and will be a hit with any crowd as she has a great diversity of shows under her belt. She has great taste in fashion and again would be someone for the views to look up to. She is a great presenter and it would be a delight to have her on our show.
What are the Videos about?
The rise of Fc United:
The rise of FC United VT is about the local club made by the fans, for the fans. It is a very informative for anyone that wants to find out about the club and also it interesting to fans of the team to see the ‘inside scoop’ as they have some great interviews with key members of the team that helped make the team a reality and worked together to get it to where it is today. The VT was created by Jonny, Sam and Nathan and they did a great job going it.

Oops she did it again:
The Oops she did it again VT was created by Lauren, Chantelle, Samantha and Danielle and they also did a great job. The VT was all about Britney Spears. Her past, her music career and the struggles that she has had to face throughout her life. From the shaving of her head to the comeback track of the summer. Wanted to know something about Britney then it will be here! They also have a great ending to the VT.

How has comedy changed over the years?
This was about how comedy has changed over the years and how nowadays it is much more daring compared to years ago when the comedy was usually ‘clean’. Nowadays the humour is much more risky and they usually push the limits more and more each time. Usually including sexual references where that would never have happened twenty thirty years ago. This  VT was created by Shannon, Danielle and Jessica.

Piracy:
The Piracy VT was actually made by my group and actually did a good job. We had a few hiccups throughout the production but we overcame then and came together as a group. Or VT was about Online Piracy and how it affects small record shops and the sales that they miss out of because of illegal downloading. It also shows you how YouTube affects this and how easy it is to download music illegally.
Fashion:
This VT was produced by Claire, Alice, Rebecca and Lajin. It is based around how fashion has changed and how it is coming back with a bang. There has been many styles from the 80’s that are on the come back and this shows which might come back and which have. They also talk about how Chelsea girl is also on the come back.

Programme Formats

Nearly all television shows now use Multi Camera because it is much easier to edit and looks much more professional that single cam production.
The only reason single camera is now used is in low budget films/shows and documentarys because you can view it from the presenters point of view.
It is important to get different shots to add more diversity to the production because people get bored of the same shot and then begin to lose interest.
3 Main examples of this are:
  • Britain's got Talent
  • EastEnders
  • Grand Prix

Grand Prix

The Grandprix is a interesting case because they have lots of cameras places around the track and this would not be possible without Multi Cam. It would be impossible to film the Grand Prix with a Single Camera setup because of the vastness of the track and the speed of the cars.
Also you would not be able to watch different angles of the track and this wouldnt be enjoyable for the viewers. It is also important for the officials to see every part of the track to see if there has been a accident and to see who was at fault.

Here is a perfect example because it actually shows the different shots and the editing of the whole process. From this you can see how Multi Cam really comes into use and makes the programme continue with its professional looking finish. Without the multicam you wouldnt only be able to see 1 side of the race where there are lots of small battles for positions through out the racers.

Britain's Got Talent

Britain's got Talent is a prime example of this because they have a huge Multi Camera setup watching places like; The main stage, the audience, the judges, side shows of the stage, one on a crane, a different one of the audience and many many more. They have this because they don't want to miss a thing and because it looks great to get the audience's and judge's reaction to the acts that come on.

As you can see from this signature Britain's Got Talent shot you can see the judges and audience at the same time which is a great shot itself but also there will be multiple cameras watching the whole stage and these cameras will cut back and forth depending on the points of interest.

EastEnders

EastEnders is a tricky one because they use to only use a Single Camera
but now they have been confirmed to use Multi Camera because it is much more effective and they can keep the original position of shot without moving the camera.
This is greatly effective to get different points of view for the viewers entertainment.

Here you can easily see there are multiple cameras to add the depth and as i already said it leaves the camera in its original position if they have to switch.
It will switch from who is talking at the time.
Etc.
Phil - Camera 1
Peggy - Camera 2

So you can see that multi camera is really the only way to film because you can capture more than single.

Introduction

Today I will be showing you what Multi Camera Production is and how it if effective on many levels.
Here is a basic Multi Camera setup and that is basically all that it is.
A number of cameras placed around the stage so you can get different shots and it creates alot more depth and creativity than a standard 1 camera that is usually used for documentarys.
